Impact themes

As part of our strategy we have a clear focus for investments. In order to create lasting impact, the strategy allows our available resources to be strategically invested in a highly targeted way. For this reason, we have selected four impact themes as the core areas where our funding allocation will be made.

Investment portfolios

  • Artificial intelligence for child wellbeing

We advance digital solutions and the mining of big data to support access to healthcare systems and services.

  • Cities fit for children

We work to improve the health and wellbeing of children in selected secondary cities.

  • Research for children

We promote research to accompany projects in health, nutrition and education by partnering with academic institutions. Our aim is to demonstrate the effectiveness of innovations.

  • Promoting new ideas

We support new and innovative ideas if a significant impact can be identified within the above priorities.

Our entrepreneurial spirit

Fondation Botnar is driven by a spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation, reflected in our operational principles. Achieving sustainable business models - accelerated through innovative financing - is our goal, with the aim of holding a fully-engaged, dialogue-rich and equal partnering relationship with recipient institutions.

Reporting requirements for grantees

Milestone reports

Milestone reports keep us up to date with current achievements and challenges within a project. These consist of a summary of the current situation in regard to the milestone, including corrective measures or adaptations made.

Annual & final reports

Annual reports are delivered every year following the project timeline. The reports are based on a narrative input and refer to the main objectives of the project. We are aware that depending on the circumstances, project objectives are subject to change. The reports help us understand the rational and help us learn with and from our grantees.

Financial Reports

Fondation Botnar is aware that the fiscal year of each organisation or project is different. Therefore, we are flexible concerning the submission of the financial report. The organisation can propose a date for the submission of the financial report, which fits their internal process best.
