Stefan Germann, CEO of Fondation Botnar since the establishment of the Management Office in 2017, is stepping down from his position and will leave the Foundation on 31 December 2023, remaining as an advisor to support the transition until 31 March 2024.
During his seven years of dedicated service as the first CEO of Fondation Botnar, the Foundation has achieved significant milestones, including the establishment of a management office with a committed team and a collaborative culture that has set the organisation on an innovative and impactful path. Under his leadership, grants have been awarded to support key philanthropic initiatives and community projects that support the wellbeing of young people.
As of 1 May 2024, Stefan will become CEO of the Ursimone Wietlisbach Foundation (USWF).
The Board of Fondation Botnar is extremely grateful for Stefan’s outstanding leadership and would like to express its deep appreciation for his contributions.
Fondation Botnar remains committed to a smooth transition to ensure that the important work of our Foundation continues without interruption. The Board has appointed Alexander Schulze, Chief Programme Officer, as the interim CEO, who will lead the Foundation together with the management team from 1 January 2024. Simultaneously, a professional succession search will begin.

Stefan Germann, CEO von Fondation Botnar seit 2017, wird per 31. Dezember 2023 zurücktreten. Bis Ende März 2024 wird er die Stiftung noch als Berater unterstützen.
Während Stefan Germanns engagierter, siebenjähriger Tätigkeit als erster CEO von Fondation Botnar hat die Stiftung wichtige Meilensteine erreicht. Dazu gehören unter anderem der Aufbau und die erfolgreiche Etablierung eines Management Offices mit einem motivierten Team und einer kollaborativen Kultur. Unter seiner Leitung hat Fondation Botnar wichtige philanthropische Initiativen gestartet und Förderbeiträge für Projekte in Städten und Ländern weltweit vergeben – immer mit dem Ziel, das Wohlergehen junger Menschen zu fördern.
Am 1. Mai 2024 wird Stefan Germann eine neue Aufgabe als CEO der Ursimone Wietlisbach Foundation (USWF) übernehmen.
Der Stiftungsrat von Fondation Botnar ist äusserst dankbar für Stefan Germanns herausragende Leadership. Mit seinen Impulsen und Beiträgen hat er die Stiftung auf einen innovativen und wirkungsvollen Weg gebracht.
Fondation Botnar wird einen reibungslosen Übergang sicherstellen, sodass die wichtige Arbeit unserer Stiftung ohne Unterbrechung weitergeht. Der Stiftungsrat hat dazu Alexander Schulze, Chief Programme Officer, per 1. Januar 2024 zum Interims-CEO ernannt. Er wird die Stiftung zusammen mit dem Managementteam führen. Gleichzeitig wird ein offizieller Nachfolgeprozess gestartet.
