Learnings from nearly a decade of funding to advance young people’s health and wellbeing

Since 2016, Fondation Botnar has funded 31 biomedical and health research grants, including the establishment of the Basel Centre for Child Research (BRCCH) and the COVID-19 research grant for the BRCCH. These grants, alongside 29 others, amount to a total of CHF 49.3 million.

They’ve now been reviewed following nearly a decade of funding. This review aimed to identify their contributions to the research and development value chain, generate learnings to support future Fondation Botnar investments and philanthropic work, and help inform partners, funders, and stakeholders active in biomedical and health research, particularly with regard to young people.

This brief shares practical insights for funders and researchers on strengthening early-stage biomedical research and translating evidence into better outcomes for young people’s health.
